KTV happy hour in Singapore — what actually gets cheaper
Updated
Happy hour at a Singapore nightlife KTV runs from opening — 3:30pm or 4pm at most venues — until 7pm, and it cuts most of the bill at once: towers and bottles commonly price lower inside the window, session prices drop where they exist (Wave Party K books at $300 before 9pm against $500 after, Pub 28’s karaoke rooms run $200 against $300 at night), some room minimums fall (New Lisbo’s drops from $108 to $69), and the hostess tip line item bills at $50 instead of $100. Our venue pages list each venue’s quoted rate; where we’ve confirmed a happy-hour split, both figures are shown.
One scope note first: pages ranking for “KTV happy hour Singapore” list hourly family karaoke studios, where happy hour means a cheaper hourly room rate. That is a different product from the nightlife KTVs on this page, where rooms carry a drink minimum instead of an hourly rate — if you’re not sure which you want, start with the types of drinking spots in Singapore. All figures below are reference numbers from our venue pages, dated and unverified until a venue confirms them.
Where happy hour changes a session price
Three venues in our index price the room itself lower inside the window:
| Venue | District | Window | Happy hour | After |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pub 28 karaoke room | Geylang | 5–9pm | $200 / session | $300 |
| Wave Party K session booking | Bugis | 6–9pm | $300 | $500 |
| 277 KTV session, per listings | Geylang | 5–9pm | $50 | $70 |
Pub 28’s saving is the biggest in absolute terms for a group: the same room, $100 less, and the hall next to it carries no minimum at all.
Where the tip line item drops
At seven KTVs we track, the hostess tip on the bill is priced by session — $50 inside the window, $100 on a weeknight after it:
| Venue | District | Window | Tip, happy hour | Tip, after |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Iconic KTV | Bugis | 4–7pm | $50 | $100 weeknights |
| Egos KTV | Bugis | 4–7pm | $50 | $100 weeknights, $70 weekends |
| Bella Bello KTV | Clarke Quay | 4–7pm | $50 | $100 night |
| Ruyi KTV | Raffles Place | 3:30–7pm | $50 | $100 night, $70 Sun |
| Ume KTV | Novena | 3:30–7pm | $50 | $100 weeknights |
| Gala KTV | Jalan Besar | 3:30–7pm | $50 | $100 weeknights |
| Galaxy KTV | Jalan Besar | 4–7pm | $50 | $100 weeknights, $70 weekends |
Where the minimum itself drops
A nightlife KTV room has no hourly rate — the room is a per-session drink commitment, counted in beer towers and bottles. Inside the window, venues commonly discount the drinks that commitment is counted in, and at some rooms the minimum itself is priced by session:
| Venue | District | Minimum, happy hour | Minimum, night |
|---|---|---|---|
| New Lisbo KTV | Jalan Besar | $69 | $108 |
| Iconic KTV | Bugis | $88 | $138 |
| Supreme KTV | Orchard | $78 | $98–$108 by session |
Exact happy-hour drink splits vary venue to venue and change often — treat the tower price on each venue page as the quoted anchor, and expect the window rate to sit below it. How the minimums themselves work, venue by venue, is covered in KTV minimum spend in Singapore.
The window matters for a second reason: the minimum doesn’t grow with time. A room that opens at 3:30pm and a group that arrives at 10pm clear the same minimum — the early group just holds the room for more of the session on the same commitment.
The longest windows
Most KTV windows run three hours from opening. These run longer:
| Venue | District | Window | Length |
|---|---|---|---|
| Empire KTV | Orchard | 4–9pm | 5 hours |
| Rose Gold KTV | Jalan Besar | 4–9pm | 5 hours |
| Club MG KTV | Jalan Besar | 5–10pm | 5 hours |
| K Palace | Orchard | 5–9pm | 4 hours |
| Golden Castle KTV | Geylang | 5–9pm Mon–Sat | 4 hours |
The earliest starts are the 3:30pm doors at Ume KTV, Gala KTV and New Lisbo — useful if the plan is an early group session that sits mostly inside the window. The late-opening rooms compress it: Emerald Club and Club Butterfly run 6–10pm, and Poseidon Club’s window is 7–10pm, right after its 7pm open.
Bars run happy hour the other way round
In pubs and bars the drink price is the whole bill, so happy hour moves the drinks instead. BQ Bar on Boat Quay runs an 11am–8pm window with no minimum on any table, Gossip Bar in MacPherson lists its happy hour price as the price all night, and Ember & Oak’s window runs 12–7pm. If the goal is simply the lowest cost of a first drink rather than a room, the bar windows beat the KTV ones — the per-head math for both sits in the cheapest KTV in Singapore.
Using the window
For a group of six or more eyeing a session-priced room, the window is worth planning around: the same Wave Party K room is $200 cheaper booked before 9pm. For tower-minimum rooms, arriving inside the window means the towers, the tip line and — at some rooms — the minimum itself all bill at the lower rate. Pick the room by minimum and headcount first, then start early enough to clear that minimum at window prices rather than night ones.
Common questions
- When is KTV happy hour in Singapore?
- Typically from opening — 3:30pm or 4pm at most venues — until 7pm. Towers, bottles and some room minimums price lower inside that window.
- What gets cheaper during KTV happy hour?
- Usually much of the bill at once: lower tower and bottle prices, lower session prices where they exist (Wave Party K is $300 before 9pm against $500 after), some room minimums drop, and the hostess tip line commonly bills $50 instead of $100.
- Is KTV happy hour the same as family karaoke happy hour?
- No. Family karaoke happy hour means a cheaper hourly room rate. Nightlife KTVs carry a drink minimum rather than an hourly rate, so happy hour cuts the drink and minimum prices instead.
